Mary M. Pohl Mary M. Pohl, 85, of 227 Harrison Road, Wilkins, died Saturday of cardiac failure in East Suburban Hospital, Monroeville. She was a member of St. Colman Church in Turtle Creek and of its Confraternity. Surviving are two daughters, Irene J. Pohl of Wilkins and Marian McMunn of Monroeville, and two grandchildren. Friends may call at any time today at the Richard H. Knee Funeral Home, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek. A Mass will be said at 10 a.m. tomorrow in St. Colman Church, Tri-Boro Highway, Turtle Creek. Burial will be in new St. Joseph Cemetery, East McKeesport.

Of Wilkins Twp. on Wednesday, March 22, 2000. She retired as Administrator for the District Justice Court System of Allegheny County. Prior to that, she was an Executive Secretary for 25 years in the Allegheny County Public Defenders Office. Currently she was President of the Board of Commissioners of Wilkins Twp having served several terms as Commissioner. She was the Wilkins Twp representative on the Turtle Creek Valley Council of Government. Before being commissioner she served as Tax Collector in Wilkins Twp. For over 35 years, she has been a member of the Democratic Committee in Wilkins Twp. She was a long time member of the Catholic Daughters of America at St. Colman Church. She was a member and Past President of the ACFW and the Century Club of Wilkins Twp. She was a member of the Circuit East Women's Club and the County Board of Women Clubs. Beloved daughter of the late Frank and the late Mary Pohl; sister of Marian I. Barnes and her husband, Myles of Wilkins Twp; aunt of Robert McMunn of NY and Kenneth McMunn and his wife, Holly of Penn Twp; dear friend of Angie Gialloreto, Vera Marcheck and Leslie Munn; also many cousins. Friends may call Thursday and Friday, 1-4 & 7-9 p.m. at PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME, (TURTLE CREEK/MONROEVILLE CHAPEL), 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek (412-823-9350). Resolution No. 2-00

A Resolution of the Township of Wilkins Honoring Irene J. Pohl and Naming the Township Municipal Building in her honor.

Whereas, Irene J. Pohl has diligently and faithfully served the citizens of the Township of Wilkins as a Township Official having served as a Commissioner, President of the Board of Commissioners and as the Township’s Tax Collector; and

Whereas, Irene J. Pohl has served, and gave generously of her time, as a volunteer in a number of civic and social organizations and that serve and benefit the citizens of the Township of Wilkins; and
Whereas, it is the desire of the Board of Commissioners to recognize and honor Irene J. Pohl for her contributions and service to the Township of Wilkins and its citizens; and now

Therefore, be it resolved that, with grateful appreciation, the Board of Commissioners hereby resolves that the Township’s Municipal Building shall hereafter be known as the “Irene J. Pohl Municipal Building” in her honor.

Resolved and adopted by the Board of Commissioners of Wilkins Township at a duly assembled meeting held this twenty-seventy day of March, 2000.
