TRAVERSE CITY — June E. Rademacher, 84, of Traverse City, passed away at home on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

June was born on June 17, 1929, in Grand Rapids. She was raised by her grandparents, George and Katie Ayers in Kingsley.

While raising her children alone she graduated from nursing school through NMC.

She retired from Munson Medical Center in 1991.

June loved quilting and many other creative hand crafts. Her numerous quilts and crafts, which she freely distributed, have become cherished treasures throughout her family. She participated in several quilt groups throughout the years and enjoyed the many friendships created. She was also an accomplished gardener whose flowers and plants were always twice as large as everyone else’s in the family. June’s Blue Ribbon recipes were greatly appreciated by all, as many of our waistlines can attest. She freely shared her recipes and know-how with anyone who asked or showed an interest.

June was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and served on the funeral luncheon committee for many years.

June will fondly be remembered for her dedication to her family, her selflessness and her tender smile. She was a wonderful and inspiring woman who will be deeply missed.

June is survived by her children, Mike (Cherrie) Walter, Jo Darling, Judy (Gary) Magee, John II (Nora) Walter, Tom (Cindy) Walter, Jack (Shannon) Walter and Kathy (Brian) Purkiss; six stepchildren; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Jake (Lillie) Kanzelmeyer; sister, Viola (Jack) Eitniear; and many special friends.

Visitation will take place for June on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, from 3 to 6 p.m., with a Scripture service held at 6 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A Mass will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, with a visitation held one hour prior, at St. Francis Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Please sign June’s online guestbook at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com.

The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
