Al G. "Bud" Harris, age 71, of Massillon, died Saturday morning, March 31, 2007 at Affinity Medical Center Massillon. He was born on June 13, 1935 in Canton to the late Eugene and Anna Harris and was graduated in 1954 from Timken High School. He served with the U.S. Navy (1956-1960) aboard the USS Vulcan as a foreman in the ship's machine and maintenance department. Bud was employed for 25 years as a machinist for the Heineman Saw Company, retiring in 2000. He is survived by his wife, Alice (Shirley) Harris, to whom he was married for 46 years; his sons, Michael (Kathy) Harris of Massillon, Kevin Harris of Canton and daughter, Kelly (Richard) Hull of Massillon. Bud also leaves two grandsons, Nicholas Hull and Andrew Harris and a brother, John (Marie) Sliman of North Canton. Funeral services will be conduct at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Reed Funeral Home CANTON CHAPEL with his son-in-law, Richard Hull, officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Liberty Cemetery. Alice Mae (Shirley) Harris R.N., age 69, of Massillon passed away in the home on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 following an extended illness. Her strong will to live despite being diagnosed with cancer was inspiring to all. She was born in Canton on August 29, 1937 to the late William and Anna Shirley and a 1956 graduate of Minerva High School. Alice also graduated Aultman School of Nursing in 1959. She worked for Aultman Hospital and most recently with Massillon community Hospital. Alice was well read, loved her home and enjoyed her time with family who will miss her much. She was a care-giver not only to her family but to all in need. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Al "Bud" Harris who died on March 31, 2007. Survivors include her two sons, Michael (Kathy) Harris of Massillon, and Kevin P. Harris of Perry Twp; daughter, Kelly (Richard) Hull of Massillon; two grandsons, Andrew Harris and Nicholas Hull; sister, Shirley Darnell of New Jersey. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2007 in the REED FUNERAL HOME CANTON CHAPEL with Richard Hull officiating. Burial to follow in Liberty Cemetery. Calling hours will be in the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Alice's memory to Aultman Hospice.
