Edith was born in Harrisville, PA on November 8, 1934 to Raymond L. and Elda Critchlow Orr. She was a graduate of Harrisville High School Class of 1952 and Indiana State Teacher’s College in 1959. Edith was married twice, first to James W. Duncan (23 years), deceased, and secondly to Robert L. McGhee (38 years), Mercer, PA. She was mother and step mother to nine children, namely Donna (Jack) Creed, Masury, OH, John (Charyn) McGhee, Mercer, PA, William (Elyse) Duncan, Asheboro, NC, JoAnne (Greg) Barnes, Mercer, PA, Anita (David) Seidel, Mercer, PA, Janet (Donald) Wareham, McMurray, PA, Robert (Wendy) Duncan, Butler, PA, James (Wendi) McGhee, Freedom, PA and Alan (Debra) Duncan, Slippery Rock, PA. She was grandmother to 22 and great grandmother to 19. She always had multiple Christmas gifts for every family member, their spouses and significant others, starting her shopping and wrapping in April to make sure her gifts were ready in time for Christmas.

Before retirement, Edith was a substitute school teacher, an adult vocational education teacher, a US Postal employee, a Penn State Agricultural Extension employee. She was a 57 year member of Clark Mills United Methodist Church and active in many community and faith based organizations, including Mercer County 4-H, Homemakers Association, local and district United Methodist Women, IQ Quilters and Women’s Christian Temperance Union. Edith expressed her faith through her love of sewing by making hundreds of outfits for donation to children in developing countries, as well as many lap robes and baby quilts for those in need.

Edith had seven siblings, all of whom are deceased, including Mila (Robert) Bovard, William (Marian) Orr, Lois (Harvey) NeSmith, Alice (Frank) Cook, Margaret Mary (Keith) McDougall, Elda Mae (Denny) Hockenberry and John Orr. She has many loving nieces and nephews from the Orr, Duncan and McGhee families.

A Memorial Service to be held at a later time. Burial will be at Old Coolspring Cemetery. No flowers please. Donations should be made to Clarks Mills United Methodist Church, 3813 Hadley Road, Clarks Mills, PA 16114.
