Ireta Brownell, Portland, Michigan, May 28, 1926 - April 7, 2003

Age 76, passed away Monday April 7, 2003 in Ionia. She was born May 28, 1926 in Charlotte, MI the daughter of Hollis and Dorothy (Yonkers) Luce. She was a local farmer's wife for 19 years and worked at the Ionia Manor for 8 years. She had a special love for crocheting and knitting, tending to her garden, and had a special place in her heart for her children and grandchildren. Surviving are 5 sons: George of Zephrhills, Fla., Daniel, Harold Jr. "Bill", Howard, and Raymond, all of Ionia; 3 daughters: Marsha Wolfington of Ionia, Iva Brownell of Fenwick, and Martha (Greg) Stull of Ionia; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 4 brothers: DH, CG, LY, and RB Luce; Sister, Darlene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in 1990; 1 grandson; 1 granddaughter; 4 sisters. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Thursday April 10, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Cook Chapel, 220 Rich Street, Ionia, with Fr. Melvin Fox, Pastor of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the family for a memorial to be chosen at a later date in memory of Ireta Brownell.
