January Bride

A wedding of interest to residents of Mt. Pleasant was solemnized last month when Ruth Phyllis Stewart daughter of John G. Stewart of Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania became the bride of John E. Voisin son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest J. Voisin of South Lansing street.

The ceremony was solemnized at eleven o'clock Saturday morning, Jan. 8 in the Sacred Heart church with the Rev. Leo J. Farquharson officiating.

For her marriage, the bride wore a gown of white satin, fashioned with basque waist, long fitted sleeves, and full skirt with pouffs at the side. The skirt extended into a long train and the bodice was accented by a small pointed collar and buttons extending the length of the waist. Her fingertip veil of illusion, edged with lace fell from a tiara of orange blossoms and she carried a bouquet of pink roses.

Attendants were the bride's sisters, Mrs. Edward Lotus of Elyria, Ohio and Mrs. William McWhinney of Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania. Flower girls were Sue Downing and Karen Voisin. Mrs. Lotus was in pink with Mrs McWhinney in blue. The flower girls wore white satin gowns and all carried pink and white mums. Glenn Voisin, brother of the bridegroom was best man and Aaron Downing was groomsman.

A reception was held at the home of the bridegroom's parents following the ceremony with a wedding breakfast for the immediate families and bridal party. The couple went to Chicago for a wedding trip and are making their home at 412-1/2 East Broadway.

The bride is a graduate of Franklin School in Philadelphia and Florida State University. She is a technician. Mr. Voisin is a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and attended Central Michigan College. He is employed by the Leonard Pipe Line company.
