Detail from an 1871 map of Buffington Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania showing land originally owned by John Stewart [00249]. A portion of this land may have been deeded in trust to his grandsons John Stewart [00264] and James Stewart [00265] in 1832. The "Business Notices" section on the map lists John and James Stewart. There is a "J. Stewart" and "J. Stewart, Sr." shown near one another, at top center. Note that "Sr." or "Senior" does not necessarily mean a father and son relationship. It could mean the older brother, John Stewart.
