{"id":557,"date":"2013-10-24T19:34:50","date_gmt":"2013-10-25T01:34:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/comm\/?p=557"},"modified":"2015-03-14T08:56:55","modified_gmt":"2015-03-14T14:56:55","slug":"new-rademacher-additions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/2013\/10\/24\/new-rademacher-additions\/","title":{"rendered":"New Rademacher Additions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the advantages of having your own family history website is cousin-bait.\u00a0 That&#8217;s when a distant cousin searches the Internet for their ancestors and finds their family names at your website.\u00a0 This often results in new information and leads for both parties.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m excited to say it&#8217;s happened again.\u00a0 This time I&#8217;ve heard from cousin Heather J. on my paternal grandmother Rademacher&#8217;s side of the family.\u00a0 Heather generously shared several old photographs she inherited from her grandmother, Evelyn Earl.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Amazingly, I now have pictures of my great-grandfather Lorenz Rademacher, great great-grandparents Gerhard Rademacher and Appolonia (B\u00fcchel) Rademacher, and great great-grandmother Anna (Gross) Schneider.\u00a0 There are also new photos of my grandmother Emma (Rademacher) Voisin and several other cousins.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s old that&#8217;s new again.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #993300;\">(Click on a picture below for an enlarged view.)<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_564\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-564\" style=\"width: 126px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001323.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-564  \" style=\"margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px;\" src=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001323-126x150.jpg\" alt=\"Lorenz Rademacher\" width=\"126\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001323-126x150.jpg 126w, https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001323-253x300.jpg 253w, https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001323.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 126px) 85vw, 126px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-564\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lorenz Rademacher<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a title=\"Lorenz and Louisa Rademacher Family Group Sheet\" href=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/tree\/groups\/public\/grp00005.html\">Lorenz Rademacher<\/a> (1872-1928) was my great-grandfather. Here he is pictured as a young man.\u00a0 He was born in Westphalia, Michigan, married in Beal City, Michigan, lived for a time near Portland, and then finally settled in Deerfield Township in Isabella County, near Mt. Pleasant.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_562\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-562\" style=\"width: 97px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001321.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-562\" src=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001321-97x150.jpg\" alt=\"Gerhard and Appolonia (B\u00fcchel) Rademacher\" width=\"97\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001321-97x150.jpg 97w, https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001321-195x300.jpg 195w, https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001321.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 97px) 85vw, 97px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-562\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gerhard and Appolonia Rademacher<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>His parents, my great great-grandparents, were <a title=\"Family Group Sheet\" href=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/tree\/groups\/public\/grp00010.html\">Gerhard and Appolonia (B\u00fcchel) Rademacher<\/a>.\u00a0 Gerhard (b. 1844) was born in Germany and immigrated to America as a child with his family and settled near Westphalia, Michigan in 1846.\u00a0 Appolonia (b. 1848) was born in Westphalia, and was the daughter of <a title=\"Family Group Sheet\" href=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/tree\/groups\/public\/grp00021.html\">Anton and Anna B\u00fcchel<\/a>, who immigrated from Germany in 1841.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_558\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-558\" style=\"width: 122px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001315.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-558  \" style=\"margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px;\" src=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001315-122x150.jpg\" alt=\"Four Generations\" width=\"122\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001315-122x150.jpg 122w, https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001315-245x300.jpg 245w, https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001315.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 122px) 85vw, 122px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-558\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Four Generations<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lorenz Rademacher married Louisa Schneider (1872-1960) in 1896.\u00a0 Here is a fascinating view of four generations:\u00a0 My great-grandmother Louisa (Schneider) Rademacher, standing left, and my grandmother Emma (Rademacher) Voisin, standing right.\u00a0 Seated is Louisa&#8217;s mother, my great great-grandmother <a title=\"Family Group Sheet\" href=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/tree\/groups\/public\/grp00011.html\">Anna (Gross) Schneider<\/a> (1840-1925).\u00a0 She is holding my father&#8217;s older sister, Nora May (Voisin) Downing.\u00a0 This picture was taken probably in December 1922.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_563\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-563\" style=\"width: 108px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001322.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-563 \" style=\"margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px;\" src=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001322-108x150.jpg\" alt=\"Anna Gertrude Rademacher\" width=\"108\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001322-108x150.jpg 108w, https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001322-216x300.jpg 216w, https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001322.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 108px) 85vw, 108px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-563\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Anna Gertrude Rademacher<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Along with the above photographs of direct-line ancestors were other portraits to help fill in the family tree.\u00a0 Here are three <a title=\"Family Group Sheet\" href=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/tree\/groups\/public\/grp00010.html\">siblings<\/a> of my great-grandfather Lorenz Rademacher.\u00a0 Anna Gertrude &#8220;Gertie&#8221; Rademacher was Lorenz&#8217;s oldest sister, while John Rademacher was one of his brothers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_566\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-566\" style=\"width: 110px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001325.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-566 \" style=\"margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px;\" src=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001325-110x150.jpg\" alt=\"John Rademacher\" width=\"110\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001325-110x150.jpg 110w, https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001325-220x300.jpg 220w, https:\/\/iSeeAncestors.com\/comm\/wp-content\/uploads\/001325.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 110px) 85vw, 110px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-566\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">John Rademacher<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A surprise addition to the family tree was Carrie, the youngest sister of Lorenz.\u00a0 Her existence was previously unknown to me.\u00a0 I immediately searched state birth records and lo and behold, found an entry for Caroline Mary Rademacher, who matched the &#8220;Carrie&#8221;
