Here he participated in aviation history by taking one of the first-ever commercial passenger trips on August 30, 1919.\u00a0 As I describe in a <a href=\"http:\/\/iseeancestors.com\/comm\/2015\/03\/13\/a-brush-with-aviation-history\/\" target=\"_blank\">previous post<\/a>, he flew from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara to close on the sale of a very expensive piano.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The airplane appears to be a Curtiss JN-4 \u201cJenny.\u201d\u00a0 It was owned by Syd Chaplin, half-brother of Charlie Chaplin.
