KATHRYN “KATHY” HANSEN, age 61, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Alma.

Kathy’s wishes were to be cremated. Cremation has taken place at Daisy Hill Crematory in Mt. Pleasant. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a charity for which she cared deeply. Envelopes are available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel.

Kathy was born in Mt. Pleasant, on February 1, 1960, the daughter of Lewis and Donna Jean (Schafer) Earl. She was the oldest of eight children. She graduated from Beal City High School with the class of 1978. Kathy was a loving and devoted mother to her three children. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan who never missed a game. She loved decorating for any holiday and celebrating with her family. She enjoyed canoeing down the Chippewa River, camping, barbecuing, bonfires, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. Until recently, Kathy worked at Out A Bounds Pizza and Good Times Party Store.

Kathy is survived by her mother Donna Jean Earl of Mt. Pleasant; significant other Richard Theisen of Mt. Pleasant; her children Ryan Earl of Lansing, Dan (Amanda) Hansen of Riverdale, Sarah (Brandon) Carman of Mt. Pleasant; stepchildren Jennifer (Nathan) Badour of Shepherd, Joshua (Tonya) Theisen of Alma; 8 grandchildren Trystan, Gavin, Ryder, Makenzie, Jamison, Raegan, Aiden, and Asher; mother-in-law Karen Cotter of Mt. Pleasant; Stepmother-in-law Brenda Theisen of Lake; her siblings Stephen (Mary Jo) Earl of Blanchard, Bob Earl of Arkansas, Lori Price of Weidman, Dave (Stacy) Earl of Weidman, Julie (Mick) Gifford of Blanchard, Brian (Victoria) Earl of Traverse City, and Jodi (John) Carrier of Mt. Pleasant.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father Lewis Earl; infant son Benjamin; nephew Jeff Earl; and father-in-law Thomas Theisen.
